THE PERSECUTED CHURCH
Christians are praying for some members of their family, who are suffering in countries around the world because of their faith in Jesus Christ. Some Christians are beaten, tortured, marginalised, and killed because they believe in Jesus Christ.
If one member of our physical family suffers, the rest of the family worry and are not at peace, because we love that member of their family.
“Now you are body of Christ and members individually” (1 Corinthians 12: 27 WEB). Let us pray for our family members who are suffering persecution because they believe in Jesus the Lord who died and rose again so that we can become the righteousness of God in him. Pray that those who persecute Christians will come to know the God of Love whom we serve.
Jesus said in the Bible states “You have heard that it is said, “Love your neighbour, and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous” (Matthew 5: 43-45 NIV).
“Therefore, I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our saviour who desires all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2: 1-4).
