Here is a Blank Cheque

Imagine someone gives you a blank cheque and says you can draw on it for whatever you need. The only condition is for you to ask. What would you do with a blank cheque? You will make a long list of things you need, want, and do not want.

Jesus said, “if you ask anything in my name, I will do it”. There is a condition. Jesus said ‟if you abide in Me and my Words abide in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you."

Like children, we develop our ability to communicate with our family, friends and parents. First there is the crying and then trauma and tears until we are old enough to learn that all we must do is to express ourselves clearly. As Christians we must be specific. For example, if there is a problem at college, work, or home and we ask God to help us out with the problem in Jesus Name, we should include what problem it is and what we want God to do to change it.

The blank cheque is there. All we have to do is write on it our name and whatever we need.

“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to his Will, He hears us” 1 John 5:14. Sometimes we do not ask. We shrug our shoulders and say God knows. He knows but when we ask, we are exercising our faith in Him and acknowledging Him as the Father who we believe can make the provision.

There are times we pray specifically but do not receive because a double-minded man can receive nothing from the Lord. We believe God can do something and deep in our heart we know of psychic or someone who will do it according to what people have been testifying they did for them. We hear those things and think God is too slow. We need an answer quickly and have made plans to find a solution even before we talk to God about it.

Sometimes we ask to satisfy the lusts of the flesh. This may be to keep up appearances or keep up with the Jones, or just to consume it upon our lust. It takes prayer to see through these kind of prayer requests. Read John 14:14; John 15:7; 1 John 5:16; James 1:6-8 & 4:3.
