Evangelism & Prayers - part 1
Someone told me that the most important work on God's mind is evangelism. As much as I disagree, I concur that saving souls is why Jesus came to earth and died on the cross in order to reconcile us to God. I will explain my disagreement in part 2 and 3.
Sowing the word of God in the hearts of many people who do not realise that they are spiritually alienated from the God who created them is a task for all those who have tasted the grace of salvation through Jesus Christ.
Jesus said, "He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned." Mark 16:15
All Christians who have experienced the touch of God in their lives desire to preach the gospel, but not all of us can tour every country. We cannot all be missionaries. Some of us are unable to leave our town, city, or country.
Yet, through prayers we can evangelise in areas that we cannot reach. Without prayers, those who preach the gospel are doing it in vain. They know that. We do not have the power to change anyone's heart or draw them to Jesus Christ. Only God can do that. “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day" John 6:44.
Prayers must support evangelism. Those who preach the gospel must seek prayer partners.
Praying Christians pray for people in their local areas, countries, and far and wide for God to draw people to Jesus Christ. We support evangelists, missionaries, and witnesses who are preaching the gospel to non-Christians through prayers. We can ask God to give them utterances relevant to individuals they are witnessing to.
